Rain is Number RIN001 - Browser version (User based input feed)
__________________________________________________________________________________
A rain operated digital installation, a visual celebration,
that monitors local rain levels by utilising a live feed.
Falling numbers are a visual metaphor that inform
the size and speed of rain drops falling from the sky
in real time.
How it works
For the projector-based local installation, a custom built bending sensor is used.
This sensor is placed outside a given building. It is wired to MakeController and
with a standard Ethernet cable connected to a local computer running the application.
When the rain starts, the quantity and mass of the drops are detected by the
sensor that feeds the data to the application.
For extended usage on various platforms, this application is not dependent
on the custom build hardware; it simply accesses a web service that provides
information regarding local weather. An XML data feed is then used to visualizes
current conditions.
RIN001 is build with AS 2 in Flash 8
